A Montana ranching family is facing encroachment on their land. Forrie J. Smith, who plays Lloyd, is a seasoned hand in the rodeo world. John Dutton (Kevin Costner) often seems to “forget” his mountain accent and slips back into the SoCal speaking voice he normally uses. I don’t think anyone does westerns better than Kevin Costner, and with Taylor Sheridan’s writing, it’s a win for the audience. Check out "Wind River" for an example of what Taylor Sheridan can do. Where’s Cole Hauser hiding? He’s amazing. I guess the daughter is a necessary part, but she’s over the top as a bitch. The scenery is fantastic, and being from Colorado, I can really appreciate the vast, beautiful landscape. Do yourself a favor and fall in love with this series, because it’s going to be a winner.
